Training, Equipping and Empowering Locals

Who says missions need to be separate from business? Overseas, hostels are like hotels, but with shared rooms at a fraction of the cost.  At the Thailand Base, we manage Zion Hostel as a means of impacting the local community and international travelers with the love of Christ. We receive guests from all over the world seeking a place to rest and meet new people.

The Zion Hostel team impacts the community by offering a peaceful and safe space to rest, a space for worship for Adventures in Missions staff and short-term missionaries, all while welcoming backpackers from all over the world to feel at home. The local Thai staff are given vocational training on customer service and hospitality, incorporated into meaningful community, empowered to start their own small businesses, and more! We emphasize community over competition! We choose to support local vendors and partner with other local businesses to provide quality service and care.

Partnering with organizations for the city of Chiang Mai

Beyond Zion Hostel, our team seeks to impact Chiang Mai through the friendships made through everyday life and various outreach opportunities. In 2018, our base focused on key areas of outreach and discipleship:

Daughters of Light: Women's home offering affordable housing, guidance for sustainable living and discipleship for the women employed at Zion Hostel and Bella Goose Coffee.

Bar Ministry: Spending time in the bars with some of the ladies as we hear about them as people, not as projects, and share Jesus’ peace and presence.

Thai Staff: Empowering our Thai staff to go for their dreams! From opening an artisan fry bars to crafting handmade crocheted clothing to owning a strawberry farm, we are walking alongside these ladies as they go for the next step in their lives through hosting leadership trainings, building business skills, and practicing English speaking

Short Term Missions Teams

We believe short-term missions play a big part in the long-term impact. While our main focus is to empower locals in their unique passions and giftings, we've found that short-term teams are a great way to support existing ministries by providing encouragement, service, and manpower for our partners they may have been missing. These teams were connected with our local ministry partners to extend the reach of the Gospel in Thailand, but we also seek to mentor these young men and women so they may continue to make big waves in their love for others wherever God leads.
