Our Mission

We exist to empower Guatemala by coming alongside pastors and leaders through community development, discipleship, and activation of the Church to establish the Kingdom of God locally and internationally.

We SERVE communities through water filter distribution, community outreach, and the installation of fuel-efficient stoves.

We DISCIPLE through monthly Church Activation conferences, “Beauty for Ashes” women events, village Bible studies and discipleship classes, and discipleship of World Race: Gap Year Squads and Short-Term Teams.

We SEND through training local pastors and churches and then send them into their communities and on short-term missions trips.

Everything we do is founded on the ministry of reconciliation to which all believers are called, described in 2 Corinthians 5:18-20.

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

2 Corinthians 5:18-20.

Providing Clean Drinking Water to Communities

The water here in Guatemala is contaminated with bacteria and parasites. With 53% of six million people living below the poverty line, these families often don’t have the resources to get purified water. Drinking dirty water leads to many different illnesses.

1 in 20 children under the age of 5 will die due to water-related sicknesses. With a $45 filter, families can filter up to 150 gallons per day for more than 10 years. The cost ends up being less than 1 penny a day! Clean water drastically changes the health of a family. We would love to see every family we work with have access to clean drinking water.

Keeping Homes Safe

The second leading cause of death here in Guatemala is from the smoke that fills the houses as women cook day after day over an open flame inside their homes. Inhaling this smoke day-after-day causes things like heart and lung disease, headaches, nausea, and irritable eyes. Having an open flame in the home is especially dangerous for small children who can potentially fall into the fire.

The installation of a $150 fuel-efficient stove can drastically change a family's life. With the new stove, the home now becomes safer for children and the women no longer have to worry about the extreme health issues that come from cooking over an open flame. The families also save money as these stoves will use 80% less firewood than an open flame. Our hope is to see every family within our communities receive a fuel-efficient stove and have healthier lives

Sending Guatemalans to the Nations

We, here at Adventures Guatemala, believe Guatemalans have a role to play in the Great Commission. Our goal is to raise up Guatemalans to be local disciplers and international missionaries, first to their communities, second to their neighboring countries, and then to the ends of the Earth.

A Generation of Radical Christ Followers

Adventures Guatemala has a unique role as a physical base to host World Race: Gap Year Squads for three months at a time. As we set up ministry and mission for our Gap Year Racers into the villages around our base to do ministry, we also purposely disciple them in becoming disciple-makers. With Deep Dive Bible studies, Activation Days, one-on-one mentoring, Word and Worship nights, and walking with them in village ministry. We are privileged to see Jesus create "World Changers" out of these young adults.

Throughout the year we also host, set up ministry, disciple and work alongside Short Term Mission Teams that come from churches, organizations and the Adventures in Missions short-term office in Georgia.
